There are so many companions in Fallout 4, that it’s hard to choose which one you want to drag round the Commonwealth with you. Thanks to the modding community, there are a lot of great mods that enhance followers in many ways, such as changing their appearance or giving them boosts of some kind.
Unfortunately, PS4 players have it the worst when it comes to modding Fallout 4. Due to heavy restrictions by Sony, no external assets are allowed to be used, meaning no new models, textures, sounds etc. This means it’s hard to find a lot of great mods that we usually see on Xbox and PC.
The mods in this list are in no particular order, and all the buttons below link back to Bethesda.net where you can download them on your PS4. Here at PwrDown, we’ve covered many more lists like this for Fallout 4 PS4 Mods!
Lore friendly Cait
The first Fallout 4 Companion mod to make this list is ‘Lore Friendly Cait’. All it does is make some minor appearance tweaks to Cait, making her a little more immersive and realistic. The developer of this mod aimed to make Cait more naturally beautiful, and less plastic looking.
Dog Rug
This next Fallout 4 mod is also a little basic, but provides a bit more when it comes to immersion. With this mod installed, you’ll be able to craft and place down a daisy rug. It acts the same was as a Kennel, but can be placed indoors, giving Dogmeat a place to rest.
Companion Infinite Ammo
Companion Infinite Ammo is a mod that I use in every playthrough, and something I believe should be in Fallout 4 by default. The mod will give your Companions infinite ammunition, meaning they’ll never run out. There is one thing to note though, you need to ensure your Companion has at least a single bit of the correct ammunition type in their inventory.
Stronger Dogmeat
Dogmeat is everyone’s favorite and most loyal Companion in Fallout 4. The Stronger Dogmeat mod will increase his damage massively on PS4. In Vanilla Fallout 4, Dogmeat typically deals just 1-2 DPS (damage per second). However with this mod installed, you can expect him to deal around 58 DPS instead.
Enhanced Companion Storage
The developer hasn’t said much about this mod, except that it will greatly increase the amount of items your Companions can carry. It does this by increasing the carry weight value. This mod is a great choice to install for Fallout 4 on PS4, as it should allow you to explore for much longer without having to clear inventories.
TCE – The Companions Enhanced
This mod does multiple things to improve your companions in Fallout 4, mostly by increasing their weapon and combat effectiveness. Another small change would be improving the appearance of Mama Murphy’s face. Finally, there’s also new face textures for Cait, Curie, Piper, Danse, MacCready and Preston.
Faster Positive Affinity
When interacting with other people in the Commonwealth, you may do something that your companion ‘likes’ or ‘loves’. This increases your affinity with them (which you might know as karma from previous games). With this mod installed, the rate at which you gain affinity is increased by 5 times, allowing you to get companion perks faster. It also removes the cool-down timer between pick-locking and terminal hacking.
Followers Extended
Follows Extended is one of the most popular Companion mods available for Fallout 4 on PS4. After installing it, you will find a container near Red Rocket which contains 20 rings. You can equip these rings onto Settlers and Companions, and they will all follow you around the Commonwealth.
Everyone’s Best Friend Dogmeat
Dogmeat isn’t the most interesting of Companions in Fallout 4, as there’s no communication or special dialog. Although he’s still hard to let go. With this mod, Dogmeat can follow you anywhere through Fallout 4, as well as another Companion of your choosing. There’s no conflicts, and they can both use abilities and store items.
Companion Combat Overhaul
Finally, we have the Companion Combat Overhaul mod. This mod does a little too much to talk about. Some of the main changes though are that it gives Companions different perks, which are more realistic according to their lore. It will also provide them with infinite ammo, unbreakable Power Armor and remove any fall damage.
