Artifacts are unique items in Forager that provide permanent passive bonuses to your character. Unlike accessories that you craft and upgrade, Artifacts are one-time unlocks that remain active for the rest of your playthrough once obtained.
There are 12 Artifacts in total. Some are quest rewards from NPCs, while others drop randomly from Big Chests. You don’t need to equip Artifacts – their effects activate automatically upon collection. Check your unlocked Artifacts anytime in the Gear section of the menu.
Quest Reward Artifacts
These four Artifacts are guaranteed rewards for completing specific NPC quests:
Fairy Aura
- Effect: Provides passive Health and Energy regeneration over time
- Location: Complete the Fairy Mother Fountain Quest in the Grass Biome by donating 1,000 Gold Coins to the fountain
Pink Bow
- Effect: Animals drop 25% more resources and spawn more frequently
- Location: Complete the Desert Princess Quest in the Desert Biome by giving her 40 Flowers and 2 Royal Clothing
Skeleton Key
- Effect: Open any Chest without needing a Key
- Location: Complete the Goblin Quest in the Graveyard Biome by giving the Goblin 100 Bones (obtained from killing Skeletons)
Magic Sceptre
- Effect: Fire Rods without consuming any charge
- Location: Complete the Wizard’s Staff Quest in the Fire Biome by giving the Wizard 20 Cinderblooms, 20 Green Pigment, and 200 Crystals
Big Chest Artifacts
These eight Artifacts drop randomly from Big Chests. You’ll naturally collect all of them as you open chests throughout the game, but which one you get is determined by RNG.
Holy Relic
- Effect: Automatically zaps nearby Demons and Skeletons, dealing damage without player input
- Location: Random drop from Big Chests
Lantern
- Effect: A floating light source follows your character (cosmetic/visibility improvement)
- Location: Random drop from Big Chests
Nerdy Glasses
- Effect: Gain 20% more experience from all sources
- Location: Random drop from Big Chests
Quiver
- Effect: Fire your Bow without consuming Arrows
- Location: Random drop from Big Chests
Shield
- Effect: Adds a chance to completely dodge incoming damage
- Location: Random drop from Big Chests
Skeleton Mask
- Effect: Skeletons become passive and will no longer attack you
- Location: Random drop from Big Chests
Top Hat
- Effect: Coins are worth 25% more when collected
- Location: Random drop from Big Chests
Vampyr Wings
- Effect: 30% chance to regain health when defeating an enemy
- Location: Random drop from Big Chests
Best Artifacts for Progression
While all Artifacts are useful, some have a bigger impact on gameplay:
- Skeleton Key – Saves significant resources by eliminating Key crafting entirely
- Nerdy Glasses – 20% XP bonus stacks with other XP sources for faster leveling
- Top Hat – 25% coin boost compounds with Wallet upgrades
- Pink Bow – More animal spawns means more resources and drops
- Quiver – Unlimited arrows makes the Bow a viable primary weapon
Prioritize completing NPC quests early in the relevant biomes to guarantee these powerful Artifacts, rather than hoping for good RNG from Big Chests.
