GamingForager: How to Get More Coal

Coal is probably the most important resource in Forager. It’s mostly required to smelt Iron Ingots and Gold Ingots, although you will use it to power the furnace in general.

Early on in the game, Coal can be quite difficult to farm, with you constantly running out and having to hunt for more. Once the lands start growing with trees, rocks will also become harder to see.

Below, we have a quick guide for farming more Coal in the Forager game. If you want to check out some more guides that we have covered, you can see our dedicated area here.

Collecting More Coal

As mentioned previously, you can mine coal rocks found on the islands. Unlocking the ‘Mining’ skill provides you with 40% more minerals for each rock mined, which will benefit you massively.

Otherwise, you can make your own Coal in the furnace. I didn’t realise this at first, but it’s the top most option in the furnace, and allows you to create a single piece of coal for 2 pieces of wood.

The Coal will pop out of the furnace once it has been crafted. However, there is one more way to get a lot of coal quickly.

In the Foraging skill tree, there is a skill called ‘Geology’. Unlocking this skill will make it so that every rock you mine will also drop coal. You will gain thousands of coal when unlocking this skill, which can later be sold for around 3 gold coins each.
