Epic Games has unveiled the patch notes for the Fortnite content update 5.40, and it’s pretty interesting. The content update mainly affects the Battle Royale and Save the World modes across each console, as well as PC and mobile. Some of the more notable aspects of the update are the vaulting of the Drum Gun and the introduction of the Suppressed Assault Rifle.
According to Epic Games, these two are related; in short, the Drum Gun was vaulted in order to make room for the Suppressed Assault Rifle. However, it looks like fans mightn’t be too unhappy about the replacement, as it seems like it’s a major improvement. The new gun is supposed to let Battle Royale players take out enemies quietly, and is more focused on precision than anything else.
According to the Fortnite website, the new gun can be found in Treasure Chests, Supply Drops and Vending Machines. It can also be found as floor loot; however, it’s unclear as to how often it’ll drop for players.
In Save the World, meanwhile, Mythic Outlander Field Agent Rio joins the battle, and there’s also a new set of Weekly Horde Challenges. You can check out the full Save The World patch notes here. On top of content update 5.40, Epic Games have also released a separate client update for Fortnite. However, it’s unclear as to what issues the update was addressing. That being said, though, the interruption only lasted for about an hour, so there wasn’t much downtime for players.
So far, Epic Games hasn’t really commented on the client update. It’s also unclear as to what has actually been fixed since then; that being said, it’s only been a few hours since the update. The Fortnite content update 5.40 is available across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
