Dropping Weapons & Items in Fortnite Battle Royale
In this guide, we’re going to look at how to drop items from your inventory in Fortnite Battle Royale.
There are a few reasons you might want to drop items, such as clearing space, finding an upgrade or trading items with your duo or squad. Anything from inside of your inventory can be dropped including Weapons, Traps, Armour, Bandages, Medical Kits and even Ammunition.
If your partner is running out of Heavy Bullets for their Sniper for example, dropping him some can be a massive help ready for the next battle. You can go quite in depth with how you choose to drop items. For example, if you’re holding 64 medium bullets, you can choose to drop them all at once, drop half or split it into a certain amount.
If your hot bar (the bar along the bottom of the screen holding items such as weapons) is already full of weapons, and you want to pick something else up, you don’t have to drop the item you wish to replace. Just have it equipped, and it will automatically switch them around.
How to drop items in Fortnite BR on PC
If you’re a PC player, there are 2 methods to dropping items in Fortnite Battle Royale compared to 1 on console. Both must be done from your inventory, which can be accessed by pressing I.
Firstly, you can either select the item in your inventory by clicking it and pressing ‘X’ on your keyboard by default. This will allow you to quickly drop the item, or you can press the drop button in the bottom right corner of the interface.
Secondly, you use your mouse to drag the item from your inventory and drag it towards the open space in the centre. I think this method is much faster, and allows you to get back into the game as soon as possible.
How to drop items in Fortnite BR on Console
Dropping items on an Xbox One and PS4 is relatively similar to PC.
Opening the inventory may vary for your controller, however in most cases it will be the D-Pad Up button. If it isn’t, you can take a look at your controller scheme.
Use your left analogue or D-Pad to navigate through your items. If you’re on an Xbox One, use X whilst PS4 Players can use Square to drop items from your inventory.
Again, this highly depends on what preset you are using.
