PC & PS4 Cross platform play in Fortnite Battle Royale
If you’re a Fortnite Battle Royale player, cross play is possible between PC & PS4 players. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem possible currently for Xbox One players to play with friends on other devices, although this may come in a future update.
When you play cross platform, it seems that the PS4 Players will be joining a game full of other PC Players. It doesn’t really matter who makes the lobby either. All stats, V-Bucks and Cosmetics are also carried over between the platforms.
If you’re a PC Player, you’re best sending this guide to your PS4 friend. PC Players only need to accept a friend request, all the hard work is for the PS4 Players. The console player will need access to a Laptop or Computer, but they can just get their PC friend to help with that part if need be.
How to cross play Fortnite Battle Royale
First off, as a PS4 Player, you will need link your PS4 and Epic Account together. Head to this link and login. You should already have an Epic Games account, if not go ahead and create one. Once you have logged in, make sure you’re in the ‘Connected Accounts’ section on the left.
Choose ‘Connect’ under PlayStation Network, and you will be redirected to the Sony site. Log in to your PSN Account to finish linking the accounts. For this next step, you’ll need the Laptop or Computer. Download the Epic Games launcher here, click ‘Get Epic Games’ in the top right.
Once it’s downloaded and installed, open it. Log in to the launcher with your Epic Games account. In the top right, you can open the friends list. Select the Add Friend button, and add your PC Friend by their username. Let them know they need to accept. Once they have accepted, you shouldn’t need to open the Epic Games launcher again.
Next time you play Fortnite Battle Royale on PS4, your PC Friend will be on your friends list, and they can be invited to your lobby or vice versa. Voice chat works too, so you can talk whilst in game or the lobby.
