If you haven’t tried it already, you can invite friends through your Steam friends list whilst in-game. Just open the Steam overlay by pressing the Steam icon in the bottom right corner, or hold SHIFT and press TAB. Here, you can see your Steam friends list. Right click someone, and choose ‘Invite to Lobby’.

This guide is suitable for the Halo Master Chief Collection, which includes Halo Reach, Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4. For more Halo MCC Guides, make sure to check out our dedicated area here!

How to Add Friends

From the home screen, you need to head to the player menu. You can do this by pressing the avatar in the top right corner, located next to your rank icon and name plate.

Open the Account Settings in the main menu

From there, you can see the ‘My Game Session’ window, with any players currently in your party. Choose your own name from the list, and another window will show up on the right hand side. Choose the ‘Find Player’ option.

Search for a player by their gamer-tag

Another window will popup, where you can search for other players based on their Microsoft Gamertag. Make sure to include the numbers when searching for someone to make sure you get the exact person you’re looking for.

Choose the Add Friend option

If a match has been found, you’ll see the other players profile where you can set them as rivals, view their stats, invite them to your party and finally, add them as a friend.
