If you’re inventory is starting to fill up with useless junk in Borderlands 3, you might want to drop some items. Doing so will give you those much needed slots back. Otherwise, consider storing useful items in the bank.
You can also drop items to trade them with friends or other people in your lobby.
Below, we’ve put together a quick guide for dropping items in-game. For more Borderlands 3 Guides & Best-of content for PS4, PC and Xbox One, make sure to check out our dedicated area here!
Dropping Items in Borderlands 3
To start dropping items, open up your inventory. You should hopefully know how to do this by now, but on PC, you can pres the ‘I’ key. On the right hand side, you can see your backpack with all of the items you are currently carrying.

Hover over any item you want to drop. In the bottom right corner, press the corresponding button for ‘Drop’. On PC, you can drop items by holding down the X key. Just pressing it won’t actually drop an item.

Once dropped, you can pick it back up or allow someone in your lobby to take it instead. If you’re just looking to free up inventory space, it’s a good idea to sell items for cash or store them in the bank.
