Earning V-Bucks in Fortnite

V-Bucks is the main form of currency in Fortnite. It’s used in both PvE (Save the world) and PvP (Battle Royale).  In the Save the World mode, it’s used to purchase & open pinata Llamas, which offer some great rewards.

However in Fortnite’s Battle Royale game mode, it can be used to unlock cosmetics such as new outfits, weapons or gliders. During Season 2, 950 V-Bucks could be used to purchase a Battle Pass.

If you are a Battle Royale player only, meaning you don’t play the PvE Campaign, then you can’t earn V-Bucks in a lot of ways. It would make sense for Epic Games to reward V-Bucks depending on how well you place at the end of the match, or if you win.

With the introduction of the Battle Pass during Season 2, players could earn V-Bucks for reaching certain tiers.

If you are currently taking part in the paid PvE Campaign (which is great fun might I add), then they can be earned pretty easily. You can earn V-Bucks in many ways. They can then be spent on Llamas for rewards, or transferred over to Battle Royale to unlock cosmetics.

If you aren’t playing the PvE Campaign, then you’re a bit out of luck right now. You’re only choice is to buy them, or earn the meager amounts provided by the Battle Pass.

It has been brought up many times on discussion forums that cosmetics are priced too high, with some items costing around $20.

Finally, you can wait until the PvE Campaign becomes free sometime. I do highly recommend the PvE mode though, you can play with friends, solo or join online lobbies. You can find people selling extra copies of the game on eBay for cheaper prices.

Earning V-Bucks in Fortnite Battle Royale

As previously stated, earning V-Bucks in Fortnite Battle Royale isn’t easy right now, and practically impossible to gain large amounts.

With the introduction of Season 2, Battle Passes where added. These added a way for players to be rewarded for playing the Battle Royale mode.

Rewards include Skins, Emotes, Gliders and of course, V-Bucks. If you pay for a Battle Pass, the prizes are much better and you can earn a lot more V-Bucks, usually over 1000.

Earning V-Bucks in Fortnite PvE

Collecting the V-Bucks currency is much easier in the Co-Op campaign (Save the World). You can earn hundreds per week, and usually even more for completing certain missions or challenges.

Daily login rewards

Each consecutive day that you login to Fortnite, you earn rewards! Quite a few of these days will earn you some free V-Bucks, and an awful lot of them too.

Below, you can see how many days you need to log-in for, and on what day you will receive some free V-Bucks as a reward.

It’s important to note that you don’t need to log in each day consecutively, if you logged in on Day 12 and didn’t log in again for a week, you’d still go to Day 13. The list below may not be accurate, as the amount of V-Bucks earned and on what days has changed a few times.

Completing Daily Quests for V-Bucks

One of the more reliable ways of earning V-Bucks in Fortnite is by doing daily quests. Your daily quests will reset every day at midnight.

Daily quests in Fortnite offer 50 V-Bucks upon completion

Each daily quest that you complete will reward you with 50 V-Bucks and 100 Daily coins, and you can expect 2 or 3 Daily quests meaning an extra 150 V-Bucks per day! The quests that are given aren’t too difficult, however they might feel time consuming and repetitive at times. Either way, it’s definitely worth it for either llamas or some cosmetics in Battle Royale.

Earn V-Bucks by completing challenges in Fortnite

You will also find Challenges under your quests area. Just like the daily quests, these offer up to 50 V-Bucks each. However not every challenge will reward you with V-Bucks, probably around 50% do on average.

Challenges also provide a way to earn V-Bucks

Challenges are simple tasks such as completing a various amount of missions or saving a certain amount of survivors. You’ll get these rewards just for progressing through the campaign and don’t really require much thought and focus.

Add items to the Collection Book

Another easy method for getting some free V-Bucks in Fortnite is by adding items to your collection book. You will learn more about the collection book as you progress through the campaign. You basically input items such as schematics, heroes and survivors into the collection book.

Once these items are placed inside, you will receive experience which allows you to level up your collection book. You also won’t be able to use or take the items back out. Therefor make sure to only add duplicates or items you don’t want or need.

Once you hit Level 6, 26 and 91, you will receive 500 V-Bucks each time.
