GamingHow to Get Netherite Scrap in Minecraft

Netherite Scrap is a new item added in Minecraft 1.16, the Nether update. It’s a material, and doesn’t have any uses besides being turned into Netherite Ingots, where it can later be turned into tools and armor.

Netherite Scrap can’t be crafted, and must be found within the Nether. Sadly, it’s spawn rate is quite low and is difficult to find, possibly making it harder to find than Diamonds. No worry though, we’ll show you how to obtain it below.

This guide is suitable for all versions of Minecraft, including Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. The steps should also be similar between consoles and devices including the PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Pocket Edition. Collecting Netherite Scrap

Currently, there are at least two ways of obtaining Netherite Scrap. The first method involves smelting Ancient Debris, and the second being by opening treasure chests inside the Nether, specifically inside of Bastion Remnant’s.

Smelting Ancient debris

Ancient Debris are new blocks that spawn within the Nether in veins, similar to other ores. Only two veins of Ancient Debris will generate in a chunk.

The first vein will be between levels 8-22, and the second vein being between levels 8-119. Even when you find them, the amount that spawn is incredibly low, with the maximum amount you can find in a chunk being 6 Ancient Debris.

Once you have some Ancient Debris, you can take it into a furnace to turn it into Netherite Scrap. Each piece of Ancient Debris will be turned into a single piece of Netherite Scrap.

Finding in Chests

One of the newest structures to spawn in Minecraft’s Nether Update is the Bastion Remnant. It’s a fortress-like structure which has a few variants. Many types of mobs spawn in this structure such as Piglins, Hoglins and Magma Cubes.

A Bastion Remnant

Bastion Remnants are large structures, and can mostly be identified by their dark appearance due to being made out of Basalt. They spawn in practically every biome too, so you shouldn’t have much trouble finding one.

Inside these Remnant’s are Treasure Rooms. In here, you can find chests (chests can also be found within other parts of Bastion Remnant’s). If you’re playing on Minecraft Java Edition, then you have a 16.8% chance of finding Netherite Scrap. Bedrock players have a chance of 56.3%. Only 1 Netherite Scrap spawns in these chests.
