Inviting other players to your Halo MCC game might seem a little confusing at first. The game uses Xbox Gamertags over Steam profiles, so searching for players might be difficult at first.

If you’re playing through Steam, you can invite people to your party through the Steam friends list. Hold SHIFT and press TAB to open the Steam overlay. Alternatively, just press the Steam icon in the bottom right corner of the home menu. Right click on a friend in your list, and choose ‘Invite to Lobby’.

This guide is suitable for the Halo Master Chief Collection, which includes Halo Reach, Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4. For more Halo MCC Guides, make sure to check out our dedicated area here!

How to Invite Players

From the main menu, you’ll need to head to the Player menu. You can do this by pressing the avatar icon in the top right corner of the screen, located next to your player rank icon and name plate.

Open the Account Settings in the main menu

Now you’ll see the ‘My Game Session’ window with a list of players. Select your own name plate from the list, then choose ‘Find Player’ on the right hand side when that menu pops up.

Search for a player by their gamer-tag

In the next window, enter the name of the player you want to invite. You might need to include the numbers on the end of their Gamertag to get the exact person you’re looking for.

Choose the Invite option

Once a match has been found, you’ll see the players profile including stats, emblem, level and more. On the left hand side, you can find an ‘Invite Player’ button. After the other player accepts, they’ll be in your party. You might also want to add them as a friend whilst here.
