There are a lot of privacy options available in Borderlands 3. For example, you can choose whether you want your game to be Invite Only, Open to Public, Friends Only, LAN Play or Local Only.
In this post, we’ll be talking about the Open to Public option. When enabled, what this does is allow other people from around the world to join your game as long as they are of a similar level to you. They will join through the matchmaking feature.
You can find out how to open your game to Public Mode below. For more Borderlands 3 Guides & Best-of content for PS4, PC and Xbox One, make sure to check out our dedicated area here!
Opening to Public
You can be either in-game or in the main menu to turn on Open to Public. All you have to do is press the cogs icon in the top right corner of the screen, then select ‘Open to Public’. You can also choose any of the other options if you desire.

To see this menu whilst in-game, it’s best that you open your inventory or some other interface like that.

If you want to join someone else’s game instead, head to the Social area, then use the matchmaking option. That way, you can join another players game who is of a similar level to you so you can quest together.
