There are two options when it comes to inventory management in The Outer Worlds. You can either scrap items such as armor and weapons for parts, or sell them for the in-game currency ‘Bits’.
Now, in most cases, scrapping is always the better option as you can use the parts you receive to repair other items you’re currently using. By selling, you’re only obtaining Bits which can be obtained in many more, cost-effective ways.
We’re going to show you how to do it anyway. For more guides & content for The Outer Worlds on PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One, make sure to check out our dedicated area here!
Selling Items in The Outer Worlds
There are two main locations to sell items to in The Outer Worlds. The first are ‘Vendors’, who are essentially Shopkeepers in towns. Then there are Vending Machines, which are probably your easiest option.
Vending Machines are abundant in the game world, and actually have their own minimap icon so they’re easy to find. Vendors have an icon too, just in-case there is one closer to you than a machine.
You should note that to actually sell items in a vending machine, you need to get your ‘Hack’ skill to level 20. Otherwise, you will only be able to buy items. Once you’ve done that though, head to a machine, open the sell tab and start selling items from your inventory.
