The way you unlock armor items in the Halo Master Chief Collection is slightly different to how it used to be. Now, it works in a Battle Pass styled format (called Season Rewards), where it’s unlocked in Tiers at the cost of Season Points.
No panic though, as these Season Rewards are actually free. That’s right, no microtransactions or real life money is involved anywhere. We’ll show you how to unlock these armor items and tiers below.
This guide is suitable for the Halo Master Chief Collection, which includes Halo Reach, Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4. For more Halo MCC Guides, make sure to check out our dedicated area here!
Unlocking New Armor
From the Home Screen, choose the ‘Options & Career’ button. The first option will say ‘Season 1’, or a higher number if you’re reading this sometime in the future. Press this button to see the Season Rewards.

You’ll see a load of items that you can unlock, with most of the first rewards consisting of helmets. Even the first Tier gives 3 new helmets. Each Tier costs a single Season Point, with there being 100 Tiers available. Each time you level up in Halo MCC, you will receive 1 Season Point for you to bring back here and spend.

That’s it, keep playing the game and you’ll get more Season Points to spend here. You can unlock Helmets, Voice-overs, Elite Armor, Shoulders, Chests, Armor Effects, Wrists, Knee Guards, Utility Items and Visor Colors.
You must unlock these tiers in Chronological order. So starting from Tier 1, working your way up to Tier 100.
