Introducing The PlayStation Classic

I think we could all see this coming, after the success of the mini Megadrive, NES, SNES and the Atari flashback it was only natural for Sony to want to get in on the fun with their very first console. The console that propelled them into gaming stardom, the PlayStation. For any gaming collector the mini version of this game changing console is a must have.

As with the other mini versions of retro consoles the PlayStation Classic is set to be released with a catalogue of games, 20 to be exact. Featuring some of the consoles finest moments, including one of the best games of that era in Final Fantasy VII. Could go so far as to say it is one of the most loved RPGs of all time so it should be a great treat for anyone interested in this console that hasn’t had the joy of embarking on Clouds adventure.

We are also being treated Tekken 3, one of the finest moments in the Tekken series and Ridge Racer Type 4 has also been confirmed. Needless to say genre defining titles they have gone for so far are impressive, great choices from Sony, many gamers are going to be keen to revisit some old favourites or perhaps the slightly younger generation or missed out on the original PlayStation will have the chance to experience some incredible adventures, making some more gaming memories.

The PlayStation Classic will not only come with the 20 pre-loaded games but also two classic PlayStation controllers. This can only mean one thing, there are going to be some multiplayer modes for us all to enjoy the old-fashioned way, a group of friends sat together sharing one screen. The console is said to be considerably smaller than the original, however it has stuck to the original look, with controllers looking identical to the ones released back in 1994 or 1995 depending on where you are in the world.

The PlayStation Classic is scheduled to be released on the 3rd December 2018 (not long to wait!), if you are a keen gaming collector or are simply looking to reminisce with a hint of nostalgia then you can pre-order it for £89.99 from GAME in the UK or can be purchased for $99.99 in the US. It is time to get back to basics, to revisit the console that started it all for the long-time fans of the PlayStation console.
