Llamas are a neutral mob in Minecraft which can be tamed and mounted, allowing you to ride them. However, you can’t control the movement of them at all, instead they will carry you around.
To ride a Llama in Minecraft, you will have to tame it first which is a simple task (we will explain how below). Once tamed, you won’t be thrown off and you will be able to breed other tamed Llamas together.
Below, we have a quick guide showing you how to mount and ride a Llama in Minecraft. This guide was made during 1.14, however it should work on every version. If you want to check out some more guides for the game, you can view our dedicated area here.
Riding a Llama
As previously mentioned, to ride a Llama, you will need to tame it first. To tame a Llama, press the ‘Use’ button on it which is right click on PC. You will be thrown off the Llama a few times, however, eventually you will have tamed it.
When you have tamed a Llama, you will know because love hearts will radiate from the Llama and you won’t be thrown off. Now you are riding the Llama, and can do multiple times. Again, you can’t control the movement or direction the Llama moves in.
You can tame more Llamas and breed them to make babies. Whilst you can also equip them with a chest to give it up to 15 inventory slots or a carpet to add decoration. Using a lead, you can pull your Llama around or make a caravan.
