Once you’ve created your character in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you aren’t locked into it. At any time, you can go ahead and customize your character further. This is especially important with Hairstyles, as you might have unlocked some with your Nook Miles.

This guide was created during the first week of Animal Crossing: New Horizons release on the Nintendo Switch. Depending on when you’re reading this guide, some thing may be different due to future updates. However we’ll always try to come back and update these guides! For more of our Animal Crossing: New Horizons Guides & Best-of lists, make sure to check out our dedicated area here!

Changing Hairstyle

To change your Hairstyle in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you will need to use a mirror. The earliest one you should obtain should be found in a bottle that’s washed up on the beach, with a DIY recipe inside. It might take you a few days to obtain. Make sure to search all the beaches on your island, picking up any bottles you find.

Craft the Wooden Table Mirror

You’ll receive the ‘Wooden Table Mirror’ shown above, which costs 3 Wood and 1 Iron Nugget. Once you’ve crafted the Wooden Table Mirror at a Workbench, it will be placed in your inventory as a furniture item. You can then go ahead and place the mirror in your home/tent.

Choosing a new hairstyle and color

Interact with the mirror by pressing A, and you will be asked if you want to change your looks. Choose ‘Change it up!’. You’ll be shown the screen above, the same one from character creation where you can change your hairstyle and color. There’s also options for your skin color, head shape, eyes, nose and mouth.
