If you’ve spoken to Pearson in the camp in Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll notice that he can craft you some upgraded Satchels. These Satchels contain more inventor space so that you can carry more provisions and other items.
The only issue with these satchels is that they require perfect pelts. These are quite difficult to collect, and require a lot of time. Either way though, we’re going to show you how!
You can see our quick guide below for collecting perfect pelts in Red Dead Redemption 2. Whilst we’ve covered many more guides for game available here.
Collecting Perfect Pelts
Go hunting for animals like you normally would for pelts. In the example below, I’ve found a Whitetail Deer. Instead of firing straight away though, we need to study it. You can do this by approaching slowly and quietly whilst aiming your weapon at it.

Hold R1 or RB to study it. Then press the same button again to show the information on the animal.

In the bottom left corner of the screen, you will see the resources that the animal will drop as well as the condition. In the screenshot above, you can see that the quality is ‘Poor’. Therefor, I need to look elsewhere.
Luckily, other animals of the same breed don’t need to be studied again. Simply aiming at them should provide the information so that you can look for perfect pelts.
