You can choose to manually save your game in Red Dead Redemption 2 at any point, with there being multiple save slots available. That way, you can always load back to a previous save if something goes wrong.
Or you could choose to save before doing something which might have negative consequences. RDR2 does have an autosave feature, which seems to automatically save quite often.
However manually saving still makes sense under some conditions. Below, we have a quick guide for manually saving and loading in Red Dead Redemption 2. Whilst we’ve covered more guides for the game here.
How to Save
To save or load your game, head into the settings menu by pressing the start/options button on your controller. From the list of options on the left, choose ‘Story’.

Here you have a few different options. Save Game, Load Game, New Game & Exit Game. In our case, we just want to save the game, so choose that option.

You will see all of the available save slots. You can choose to save into an empty slot, or override a previous save. If at any point you want to load up any of these saves, just choose the ‘Load Game’ option in the previous menu.
Autosave will still be active. So you don’t have to worry about constantly manually saving the game.
