Sleeping in Red Dead Redemption 2 is very useful. Firstly, it helps restore your cores naturally as you sleep and stops them draining. It also makes time pass, so that you don’t have to do your travelling in the dark.
There are multiple locations that you can rest up at. Whether in your camp, in the local town or even in the middle of nowhere. We’re going to show you all the possible ways.
You can see our quick guide below for how and where to sleep in Red Dead Redemption 2. Whilst we’ve covered many more guides for the game in our dedicated area here.
Sleeping in RDR2
The first, and most common location that you can sleep in is in your own bed. In your camp is your own tent, where you can shave, sleep and change your outfit. If you don’t know where this is, look for the tent icon on the map.

If you can’t make it to your own bed, there are hotels available in each town. Inside, you can rent a room for around $1, which allows you to sleep. For an extra $0.25, you can also access the bath where you can clean yourself up.
Depending on how much you’ve progressed through the story, you will also be able to make a portable camp anywhere in the game world. You can find it in your items wheel towards the bottom. You will be able to sleep, cook and craft from the camp fire.

Finally, some locations just allow you to wait until the morning. Specifically outside General Stores and Gunsmiths. If they’re closed for the night, you’ll be given the option to wait until morning.
