GamingRed Dead Redemption 2: How to Take Photos & Selfies

In Red Dead Redemption 2, you can take your own photographs and selfies with a camera. The only thing personally don’t remember is whether you have a camera from the start of the game.

If you don’t, it’s possible that you will collect it from a guy in Valentine, specifically in one of the Saloons. Either way, it makes it possible to take your own photographs and selfies which you can pose for and share with friends.

Photos are uploaded to Social Club, although you can hide the UI and take a screenshot on both consoles. Below, we have a quick guide for using the camera. Whilst we have more guides for Red Dead Redemption 2 available here.

Taking Photos

First off, open up the Camera. It can be found in the ‘Items’ section of your item wheel. Specifically the Kit area on the right hand side. You may need to use the trigger buttons to flip through the items. Release L1 to use the camera.

There are two different types of photos you can take. They are handheld, which means you take a photo of the area in front of you, or self portrait. Which obviously means taking a selfie.

When taking a photo, you have a few extra options pop up in the bottom right of the screen. You can enable focus lock, zoom, change your facial expression and even pose for the camera.

Once you take a photograph, it will be uploaded to Social Club. From there, you can take a screenshot yourself to save it locally to the console.
