It turns out that The Last Remnant isn’t officially gone, as many of us had feared. After being pulled from Steam – one of the only remaining places it was available – Square Enix have announced the the classic RPG is being remastered. To coincide with the announcement, they’ve released a trailer, which you can see below.
Based on what we currently know, it looks like it’ll be similar to how Square Enix are tackling the Final Fantasy VII remake. When the game was pulled from Steam, it led to a lot of speculation. However, very few actually thought that The Last Remnant Remastered would be unveiled.
The RPG was released back in 2008, with the game being well received by both critics and fans of the publisher. However, it didn’t achieve the sales typical of a Square Enix title, especially among RPGs. That being said, though, it did become a cult classic. It was originally released on the Xbox 360, with a PC version being released not long later. A PlayStation version was planned, but that was eventually abandoned.
Now, however, it looks like that PlayStation version is finally being released. This time, though, it’ll be in the remastered format. So far, a PlayStation 4 version is the only one that’s been announced. That doesn’t mean that it won’t change; after all, it originally became popular on Xbox and PC, so we couldn’t rule out versions for the Xbox One and PC.
The game originally received fanfare for it’s entralling story, as well as its characters. The story of a world filled with Remnants; ancient artefacts that grant mysterious power to their wielders.
The Last Remnant Remastered is set to be released on December 6 of this year. You can check out the announcement trailer below. While not much is known about the release, we’re expecting that a lot more information about The Last Remnant remastered will be unveiled soon. So far, it’s only been announced that it’s receiving a digital release.
