In this list, we’re going to take a look at some of the best Location and New Area mods for Fallout 4 on the Xbox One. These mods add new locations to the Commonwealth in an immersive way, with them often having their own lore and backstory.

As well as just making the Commonwealth feel more alive, these mods will add new loot, NPC’s, weapons, quests, companions and even player homes. Below, we’ve chosen the best ones currently available.

All the links below link back to Bethesda.net where you can download them on your Xbox One. If you want to read more articles like this, make sure to check out our complete list of Fallout 4 Mods for Xbox One!

Plenty ‘o’ Exploration

plenty of exploration

Our first mod to make this list is Plenty ‘o’ Exploration for Xbox One. What this mod does is add many new interiors which you can loot and explore. The developer says they created this mod after being disappointed about the small amount of buildings you can actually enter when heading through towns. Currently, there are 9 new interiors (most are in Concord) and 7 exteriors.

Crowded Commonwealth

The next mod is Crowded Commonwealth, which adds plenty of new areas to explore in the Fallout 4 Commonwealth. Each location has it’s own bit of lore too, making them feel immersive. Currently, it includes 11 new locations which vary from brainwashed schools to large public parks. It’s also compatible with other mods in this list including Plenty ‘o’ Exploration above.

Minutemen Watchtowers

Adding more lore and backstory to the Minutemen Faction are these Watchtowers. Now abandoned and left behind, you can find them dotted around the Commonwealth. Inside, you can rest up, do some crafting and find loot such as medical items and ammunition. In total, there are 9 towers to be found, with each one also acting as a fast travel location.

Stumble Upon Interiors

Stumble Upon Interiors adds 9 new locations to Fallout 4, all which are immersive and have no quests attached to them. These locations are all over the Commonwealth, instead of being found in a single town. Some of these locations consist of apartment buildings, bars, crypts and houses.

The Bunker

the bunker

I wouldn’t recommend installing this mod if you don’t want Fallout 4 to be easier. After installing this mod, you’ll find a new Bunker North-East of Sanctuary. Inside are thousands of rounds of ammunition which you can use, as well as a new Ghoul Companion. Though there is no voice acting on the Companion, so you’ll need to turn on subtitles if you plan to use her.

Beantown Interiors

Beantown Interiors is a huge mod, adding many new locations to Fallout 4. It’s probably the biggest location mod available, adding 81 new interiors in total which are ready for you to loot. They aren’t all in Beantown either, these interiors can be found all around the map including in Concord, Salem, South Boston, Beaver Creek and more.

Welcome to Goodneighbor

This mod makes a massive expansion to the community of Goodneighbor. Whilst not necessarily a new location, it does add many new areas and buildings to explore. In total, it adds around 500 new lines of dialogue, 2 story quests, 3 assassination quests, 7 new establishments and 2 player homes. The developer expects it to take around 2-3 hours to complete the quest-line in this mod.

Mad Rock

Mad Rock is a new Quest & Settlement mod for Fallout 4. It’s not far from Billies Fridge, and is best travelling to University Point to make your way to Mad Rock. Once there, there is a small quest that you can complete which will allow you to have the location as a settlement.

Maxwell’s World

Maxwell’s World is huge, it’s practically DLC sized. With it, you’ll find yourself in a twisted Amusement Park known as Maxwell’s World. There’s a 7 part quest which have 4 different endings, 3 new companions, new weapons, enemies and much more. A lot of work has gone into this mod, and is worth checking out for all the fresh content it offers.

Diamond City Expansion

Finally, we have Diamond City Expansion. This mod expands on Diamond City, adding many new areas to explore around the edges of the stadium. It’s received many updates, with more to come. Included in the expanded areas are new NPC’s, music and more.
