There are a lot of magic mods available for Minecraft, with them all offering different things. Some of them are so in-depth though that you might need to read a few Wikis, or watch a few YouTube videos to completely understand them.

Mods massively change Minecraft, taking it to a whole new level. The great thing is that there are millions of mods available, with them covering practically every category and genre that you can think of. Unfortunately, mod capability and support varies massively between PC, PS4, Xbox and Pocket Edition. All of the mods shown in this list are for Java Edition only.

All the buttons below will link back to Curse Forge, where you can download these mods for Minecraft. We’ve covered plenty more Minecraft Mod Lists, which you’re welcome to read! The list below is in no particular order.

Baubles

Baubles is the most downloaded Minecraft mod when it comes to the Magic section. It’s an addon mod, which is designed to work with other magic mods. What it does is adds new inventory slots to your character where you are able to equip an amulet, belt, head, body, charm and two rings. Baubles is compatible with Minecraft 1.10, 1.11 and 1.12 and isn’t designed to be used on its own.

Botania

Next up is Botania, which is a mod that’s a combination of tech and magic, but the main theme is natural magic. Utilizing the power of the earth, you can begin automating your Minecraft world. It’s a very complicated mod, so you’ll need to create a guide book in-game and watch some tutorials. Botania is available for Minecraft 1.11, 1.12 and 1.13.

Corail Tombstone

Corail Tombstone prevents you from losing all your items upon death, by placing them in a Tombstone. The reason it’s in this list of Magic mods is because it also adds a magic system made up of enchantable items. Some of these enchantments include the ability to keep all items on death, reduces the distance that mobs will detect you and and a way to absorb beneficial effects from the enemy. This mod works on Minecraft 1.12, 1.14 and 1.15.

Waystones

This mod adds stones that you can craft and activate in order to teleport to. You can either use the stones for transport, a warp scroll or a rechargeable warp stone. They provide an immersive and realistic way of quickly travelling around your Minecraft world with the use of Magic. Currently, you can use Waystones with Minecraft 1.12, 1.14 and 1.15.

Enchantment Descriptions

Enchantment Descriptions is a small client side mod that makes changes to any Enchanted Books that you might own. When hovering over an Enchanted Book, holding down SHIFT will tell you exactly what the enchantment does. For example: “SMITE: Increases damage against undead mobs such as Zombies and Skeletons”. This mod is compatible with Minecraft 1.13, 1.14 and 1.15.

Thaumcraft

Thaumcraft is another huge magic mod that you’ll need to watch some tutorials to understand. You can use magic to kill enemies and create items, whilst the mod also adds new blocks and biomes. There’s a portal which goes to another dimension and so much more to talk about. You can use Thaumcraft on Minecraft 1.8, 1.10 and 1.12.

Astral Sorcery

Astral Sorcery is another magic mod that’s focused around harnessing the powers of starlight and the constellations. You’ll primarily use the mod during the night time of course, where you’ll unlock new tools like grappling hooks and abilities such as being able to light the way in front of you. There is a game guide presented to you in-game to get you started. It’s compatible with Minecraft 1.10, 1.11 and 1.12.

Potion Core

Expanding on the Potions system is Potion Core. There are many new potions offering effects such as increased magic damage, self explosions, knockback resistance, revival upon death, slower falling, wall climbing, the ability to fly and so much more. You can use Potion Core with Minecraft 1.10, 1.11 and 1.12.

Inventory Pets

As it sounds, Inventory Pets allows you to have pets inside of your inventory, where you can name them, feed them and care for them. They each have crafting recipes, which aren’t too expensive and will need to be fed constantly to keep providing buffs. Having a Creeper pet for example, makes you immune to explosions. Whilst having a Squid pet allows you to breathe underwater. It’s compatible with Minecraft 1.10, 1.11 and 1.12.

Reliquary

Finally, we have Reliquary, a mod which adds many new magical items to Minecraft. Some of these items allow you to magnetize items and experience towards you, a torch which pushes mobs away, a staff which can hold and place large amounts of torches around the player as they explore and a load more. You can see all the available items in the image above, and you can use this mod with Minecraft 1.10, 1.11 and 1.12.
