In this guide, we’re going to cover the Aqua Affinity Enchantment in Minecraft. Specifically what it does, how you can obtain it and apply it to your armor.
This is part of our Minecraft Enchantments series, where we cover each Enchantment in the game. We’ve also covered plenty of other Minecraft Guides here at PwrDown.
What does Aqua Affinity Do?
When you use Aqua Affinity, the speed that you mine blocks underwater will be increased dramatically. Without the Enchantment, breaking blocks takes five times as long as it usually does.
Aqua Affinity can only be applied to your Helmet in Minecraft. The Enchantment has maximum level of 1, and any additional levels won’t make any difference to block breaking speeds.
How to Get Aqua Affinity
There are multiple ways to obtain Aqua Affinity. Like other items, you can place your Helmet into an Enchanting Table, and hope that you get lucky. You can hover over Enchantments on the right hand side to see if you will receive it.

Alternatively, you can receive Aqua Affinity as an Enchanted Book. These can be found in Loot Chests, or traded from Villagers. If you choose this method, then you will have to use an Anvil to apply it.

If you have the Aqua Affinity Enchanted Book, then open up an Anvil. Place both your Helmet and Book into the empty slots to bind them together. There is a level cost, which you can view in the window.
