Minecraft: The Deep Void Mod Guide & Tutorial

I’ve spent extensive time exploring The Deep Void, and this mod transforms Minecraft into a horror survival experience through a nightmare dimension accessed by falling into the void. The dimension features fourteen unique biomes ranging from bone wastelands to flesh plains, each populated with distinct hostile and passive entities. This creates a fundamentally different survival challenge compared to vanilla Minecraft’s three dimensions.

Through my testing, I discovered the mod’s central mechanic revolves around light management and The Stalker—a 500-health entity that hunts players who stay in darkness too long. The progression system requires defeating three major bosses: Weaver Of Souls with 500 health and 8 attack damage, Apostle Of Catastrophe with 800 health and 14 attack damage, and Primordial Bone Crawler with 500 health and 8 attack damage. Successfully navigating this dimension yields powerful Voidrium equipment and unique armor sets unavailable elsewhere.

Entering The Deep Void

I accessed the dimension by locating the structure at coordinates 0, -64, 0 in the Overworld, which generates a hole through the Bedrock layer regardless of world age. My analysis revealed Cracked Bedrock blocks spawn naturally in the Overworld and break when walked on, creating additional void access points. Alternatively, falling into the void in the End dimension teleports you directly to The Deep Void.

The Abductor entity provides a third entry method. I crafted an Eye Of The Deep to locate these creatures, which highlights them with the Glowing effect and plays a bell sound when nearby. During testing, I found standing near an Abductor triggers a grab animation that transports you to The Deep Void after several seconds unless you crouch to escape. To exit the dimension, I crafted a Void Pendant using four Necrosed Skin, four Rotten Bone, and one Onyx arranged with skin on the sides, bones in the corners, and Onyx in the center.

The Stalker Mechanic

The Stalker represents the dimension’s most dangerous threat with 500 health and the ability to kill unprepared players instantly. My testing revealed this entity spawns when you remain in darkness for too long, appearing after two visual warnings. The Stalker doesn’t spawn in three specific biomes: Gloomy Deathgrounds, Staring Hills, and Crawler Nest, making these safer exploration zones.

I countered The Stalker using several methods. Light sources force it to retreat, making torch placement critical for survival. The Rotten Flare Gun stuns The Stalker on direct hit and scares it away when fired nearby. I also used Stalker Treats, throwable items that distract it temporarily. When completely cornered, hiding in a dugout hole works, though The Stalker can dig to reach you. The Ferryman’s Lantern provides permanent light that hostile entities won’t destroy, unlike regular torches.

Biomes and Environment

The Deep Void contains fourteen distinct biomes I’ve documented: Ashen Crags, Befouled Marsh, Crawler Nest, Drifting Monoliths, Filled Graveyard, Forgotten Valley, Gathering Grounds, Gloomy Deathgrounds, Grim Canopy, Misted Remnants, Mourning Graveyard, Staring Hills, Watching Undergrowth, and Windswept Hollow. Each biome features unique terrain generation, ambient effects, and entity spawns.

During exploration, I discovered cave biomes generate beneath specific surface biomes. Desolate Caves always spawn under Windswept Hollow, while other cave variants appear under related surface biomes. My analysis confirmed cave generation requires Random Tick Speed above zero—setting it to zero prevents cave biome formation entirely. Several biomes contain Voidrium Ore: Mourning Graveyard, Filled Graveyard, Drifting Monoliths, Gloomy Deathgrounds, Staring Hills, and Gathering Grounds.

Common Hostile Entities

Bone Crawlers represent the most prevalent threat with 15 health and lethal bite attacks that inflict Rot status effect. These small insect-like creatures spawn in groups and hide within bone piles throughout the dimension. I encountered them most frequently in bone-heavy biomes, where their camouflage makes detection difficult before they attack.

Damneds are floating hostile entities with 1 health that wander aimlessly through wastelands. Despite low health, their numbers create danger through swarm tactics. Fool Eaters with 35 health mimic Damned appearance to blend into the dark sky and ambush unsuspecting players. Lurkers function as bone amalgam enemies that attack on sight without sophisticated tactics. Rotten Corpses are skeleton variants overtaken by rot that spread the Rot effect through melee attacks.

Boss Encounters and Rewards

The Weaver Of Souls serves as the first major boss with 500 health, 8 attack damage, and 12 armor points. I summoned it by right-clicking a Soul Container with a Hexed Doll. Defeating this boss yields a Weaver Of Souls Treasure Bag containing unique armor pieces and weapons. The boss features complex attack patterns requiring strategic positioning and proper equipment preparation.

The Apostle Of Catastrophe represents the strongest boss with 800 health and 14 attack damage. I spawned it by right-clicking a Soul Forge with a Hexed Doll, which destroys the Soul Forge permanently. The Primordial Bone Crawler functions as the third boss with 500 health, 8 attack damage, and 8 armor points. My testing confirmed all three bosses feature boss health bars and drop treasure bags containing progression materials including Soul-Fused Ingots and unique equipment.

Voidrium Progression

Voidrium serves as the dimension’s primary progression material, obtainable only through specific methods. I located Voidrium Ore in six biomes: Mourning Graveyard, Filled Graveyard, Drifting Monoliths, Gloomy Deathgrounds, Staring Hills, and Gathering Grounds. Standard pickaxes cannot harvest this ore—it requires a Shatterbone Pickaxe specifically.

Crafting the Shatterbone Pickaxe requires materials from the Glutton Block, a progression-critical block you feed Desolate Soil to obtain Shatterbone components. I also needed Void Essence, which drops exclusively from the Nightmare entity. The Nightmare spawns when Hallucinations jumpscare you repeatedly, when engaging in staring contests with Void Watchers, or through ritual summoning by stabbing yourself with an Onyx Needle inside Liquid Void below Y-level 1. Breaking Voidrium Ore with the Shatterbone Pickaxe yields one Rough Voidrium per ore block.

Conclusion

The Deep Void substantially transforms Minecraft’s survival gameplay through horror-themed dimension exploration and light-dependent mechanics. My testing confirmed the mod requires strategic preparation including proper light management, Stalker countermeasures, and boss-specific equipment. The fourteen unique biomes provide diverse environments for resource gathering, while the Voidrium progression system creates clear advancement goals beyond vanilla Minecraft’s material tiers.
