Building Gadgets adds some new craftable items which streamline and improve the building aspect of Minecraft. You can quickly build walls, floors, or even copy and paste structures you’ve already created.
We’ve covered many more mods in a Wiki format here at PwrDown, as well as full lists on our YouTube Channel. Alternatively, you might be interested in looking at some of our Minecraft Mod Lists currently available here on the website.
Building Gadget
The first tool you can use is the Building Gadget. It will allow you to build structures with just a few clicks, and from a distance. The recipe for the Building Gadget requires 4 Iron Ingots, 2 Redstone Dust, 2 Diamonds and 1 Lapis Lazuli.

Once it’s crafted, you’ll need to select the block type you want to build with. This can be done by sneaking and right clicking on a block with the Building Gadget. By pressing the G key, you can see a list of settings, such as Range. There’s also some different building modes, which are:
- Build to Me: Build from the block face you’re looking at, to the players position.
- Vertical Column: Builds a vertical column, with the height determined by the range modifier. Blocks can be built upwards or downwards.
- Horizontal Column: Like the Vertical Column, except it builds horizontally instead, from the block you’re looking at.
- Vertical Wall: Builds a wall of blocks, both vertically and horizontally, determined by the range.
- Horizontal Wall: Builds a wall of blocks, horizontally from the block you’re looking at.
- Stairs: Builds a set of stairs, upwards or downwards.
- Checkerboard/Grid: Builds in a pattern with block, air, block, air etc.
Remember, you can switch between these modes and change the range by holding down the G key by default. You’ll also need to have the required blocks in your inventory.

When previewing a build, like on the image above, you can press H to anchor it. It will keep the preview in place, so that you can walk around and see if you like it. Once you’re ready to build it, simply right click. If you make a mistake, then you can undo a build by pressing U.
Copy Paste Gadget
Next is the Copy Paste Gadget. It will allow you to copy a large area, such as a structure, and paste it in a location of your choosing. The recipe for the Copy Paste Gadget requires 4 Iron Ingots, 2 Emeralds, 2 Redstone Dust and a Lapis Lazuli.

To use the tool, select the first corner of the area you want to copy, and right click on it. This is the anchor point, so also the location from which the pasted area will be placed. Go to the opposing corner, and sneak and right click the box to select the second point.

Two positions should have been set, which should form a cube, so that anything contained in the cube will be copied. There is a cube outline, but it might not be visible if you’re using shaders. It can be manually adjusted by holding G to open the settings for the Copy Paste tool, and pressing the Open GUI option.
The area should have been copied when you selected the second point. Hold down G, and enter Paste mode. A preview of the pasted structure will show up. Like with the Building Gadget, you can press H to anchor it, to ensure the positioning is correct.

When you’re happy with the location, right click to paste it. Inside the settings for the Copy Paste Tool, you can also rotate the structure, mirror it or see a list of required materials.
Destruction Gadget
The Destruction Gadget will allow you to void large areas, at the press of a single button. It can be crafted from 4 Iron Ingots, 2 Ender Pearls, 2 Redstone Dust and a Lapis Lazuli.

Press G while holding the Destruction Gadget to see a list of available options. It includes enabling the Overlay, whether Fluids can be destroyed (Raytrace Fluid), and the option to anchor the destruction area. If you happen to make a mistake, there’s also an undo button available.

To use the Destruction Gadget, sneak and right click a block face while holding it. In the interface, determine the directions, and amount of blocks you want to destroy. So a 4x4x4 area for example.
The directions are relative to the block side that you clicked, and the maximum area you can destroy is a 16x16x16 cube. Once you’re happy, press Confirm. Then with the Destruction Gadget in your hand, right click the area to destroy it. This is also a good point to use the Anchor option (H).
