If you are a writer here at PwrDown, you are paid for your work. You are not employed under us, instead you are a freelancer. We simply provide a platform for you to write on where you can earn money. This isn’t designed to be a full time income at all, instead it’s a bit of side cash.
In reality, it can provide a substantial amount of money, but you’d have to work hard and know the type of content to write about. There are some posts which might only get 100 visits, some which get tens of thousands. I’ve experienced both, and most of the time, it’s luck of the draw.
We’ve already wrote up an in-depth post on finding the best content to write about. I suggest you go read it if you haven’t. Our earnings and payment system can be quite complex, so we’ll run you through it here.
Obligations
As a writer here at PwrDown, you are expected to write around three articles a week. They can be guides, reviews or listicles for example. Three is a very small amount and easily obtainable once you have got your head around the dashboard. I aim for 80 posts a month, but this is a bit ambitious for everyone.
If it appears that you have become inactive and are no longer active, your account will be archived and you will continue to receive payment for your articles for the next month. We think this is fair, as most sites will only pay you for the first 30 days that the article is published.
Earnings
All staff writers earn a base amount of $2 USD per 1000 views. So if you brought in 20,000 visitors per day to your posts, that would equate to $40 per day or around $1200 per month. You should note that 20,000 people per day is difficult to achieve, and can’t be done with the 3 articles per week quota.
We use a ranking system so that our top performers can earn more for their work. As already mentioned, the base amount is $2 per 1000 views. However if you reach 100,000 views in a month (3.3K visits per day) or over, your earnings for that month go up to $2.50 per 1000 views. Whilst if you manage to reach 200,000 visits in a month (6.6K visits per day), your earnings reach $3 per 1,000 visits. How does this work out? Well if you bring in 200,000 people in a month, instead of earning $400 USD, you get $600. If we apply this to the 20,000 visits per day we mentioned above, this goes from $1200 to $1800.
View Calculations & Payouts
Views are calculated at the end of each month using Google Analytics. The views will be relatively similar to what is shown on your WordPress dashboard. However, they will be slightly smaller as Google Analytics is an official web tracker built by Google which only calculates real traffic. Where as WordPress also includes bots, scrapers and spam accounts that visit the site.
Payouts are only granted each month for earnings of $20 or over. This is equivalent to 10,000 views, or 333 visits per day. If you don’t meet your quota, it will carry over to the next month. Remember, if your writing articles and not seeing traffic, drop us a message and we will provide advice, feedback and guides.
