Like any other game by Rockstar, you’re provided with a world map so that you can see where about you are. It also provides an index, so that you can search for specific places and set a way-point.
For example, if you want to buy a new horse, you will need to look for a stable on the map. Then you can set a GPS route. Areas on the map in Red Dead Redemption 2 and invisible, and won’t show up until you’ve visited the area.

Opening The Map
To open the map, press the ‘Options’ button on your PS4 Controller, or the ‘Menu’ button on your Xbox One Controller. Both of these buttons are found in the center right area of the controller.

From there, you can choose the ‘Map’ option, which will open up the Red Dead Redemption 2 World Map.

Instead of pressing the menu/options button and going to the map option, you can instead hold it down which will instantly open up the map. Now you can set waypoints and GPS routes.
